Mission
- AEDU-UK was launched in 2009 to educate students economically and socially disadvantaged by the civil war in Sri Lanka. It has a holistic approach to education, inclusive of nutrition and emotional well being of beneficiaries traumatised by war.
- Mainly sponsorships, secondary income through fundraising and donations.
- Initial focus on primary and secondary education with gradual extension to the tertiary sector.
- Tertiary sector, inclusive of higher and vocational education.
- Equipping school leavers with knowledge and skills for paid and self employment.
Vision
Education is the fundamental right of every child and our vision is to fulfil this birth right of every child, deprived of access to education. We are guided by Rousseau’s principle “Everything we do not have at birth and which we need when we are grown, is given to us by education.’’
